한반도의 동서를 연결하는 국도 38호선에 접하고 있으며 조선 단종 역사를 간직하고 있는 영월의 청령포와 장릉 사이, 새로이 조성된 영월군 좌측 동강변 저류지 수변공간인 영월 국가정원의 중앙부에 위치하고 있다. 영월 10경 및 다양한 휴양지, 공원, 강, 계곡, 폭포, 전시관들의 중심에 위치하고 있으며, 국도라는 큰 줄기를 타고 이동하는 다양한 관광자원과 영월 지역 사회를 연결하는 플랫폼 기능의 적극적 수행을 기대한다. 국가정원내에서 영월을 지나치던 차량의 이동을 자전거와 산책으로 연결시키며, 영월의 문화적 자산과 함께 쉬고 누리고 소비하는 여유로운 복합쉼터가 되기를 기대한다.

Set along National Route 38, the great east–west corridor of the Korean Peninsula, this site lies between Cheongnyeongpo and Jangneung in Yeongwol, where the history of King Danjong of the Joseon Dynasty still lingers in the landscape.

Positioned at the heart of the newly created waterfront space along the left bank detention basin of the Donggang River within the Yeongwol National Garden, it stands at the center of Yeongwol’s most treasured destinations, from the Ten Scenic Views of Yeongwol to its many resorts, parks, rivers, valleys, waterfalls, and exhibition spaces.

Here, the movement of cars that once simply passed through Yeongwol is gently transformed into journeys of walking and cycling. Within the national garden, it becomes a generous and relaxing multi-purpose retreat, a place to pause, to experience, to enjoy, and to spend time immersed in the cultural richness and natural beauty of Yeongwol.

It is imagined as a place where travel slows down, where landscape becomes experience, and where Yeongwol is no longer just passed by, but truly encountered.
